Our Age Groups
Our classrooms are spacious, well-equipped, age-appropriate and designed to stimulate your little one throughout the day. We encourage parents to educate themselves about their children's developmental milestones in order to gain a better understanding of your child's growth and changes.
1 - 2 YEARS - EXPLORERS GROUP
Focus is on aiding and strengthening fine and gross motor development; monitoring and enhancing your toddler’s language and sensory development; developing and stimulating your toddler's cognitive skills. Your little one will be offered the comfort and confidence of routine in a nurturing and hygienic environment.
2 - 3 YEARS - ADVENTURERS GROUP
Focus is on further developing their fine and gross motor skills as well as vocabulary. Adventurers will be assisted with their social development and continuously receive cognitive stimulation in a classroom designed to suit their milestones with age-appropriate equipment. Together, with the parent support, pupils will be potty trained in this group.
3 - 4 YEARS - DISCOVERERS GROUP

4 - 5 YEARS (PRE-GRADE R) - BIG THINKERS GROUP
Focus is on independent thinking, social responsibility, mindfulness, life skills, literacy & mathematics skills. Our focus in this group is all about developing well rounded graduates and preparing them for the foundation phase.
5 - 6 YEARS (RADEG R) - SUPERNOVAS GROUP
Focus is on carefully facilitating the ‘characteristics of effective learning’. These are the fundamental skills and attitudes required to help children become lifelong learners, focusing on not just what children need to learn but how they learn it. Here, we aspire to embed positive attitudes towards school and learning, in addition to setting the expectations for children’s behaviour and building sound understanding of key concepts such as reading and numbers.
Curriculum (NCF & CAPS)
We follow the National Curriculum Framework for Early Childhood Development & CAPS curriculum. Our lessons are based on bi-weekly themes and we follow a daily schedule. Your little one will continuously learn through structured lessons and play. All indoor & outdoor activities, music as well as art centres on the weekly themes. The following is incorporated throughout the day: mindfulness (meditation, breathing, visualizations and affirmations), outdoor play, movement and music, emerging literacy, emerging mathematics, science, culture, sensory play, isiXhosa, sign language, religious instruction and creative art.
Our much-loved dress-up days also add extra excitement and charm to your child's days at school.
The structured daily routine teaches children responsibility as well as the concept of time. Pupils acquire the ability to mentally and physically prepare themselves for the activities on their schedule. This in turn assists in developing their independence and confidence.

Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is essential. We encourage your involvement in your child's school life. At WKA we continuously strive towards the goal of working hand-in-hand with our parents. We believe that your child's development can only reach his/her full potential if school and parent act as one community.
We make use of an online platform for regular communication. Parents are always encouraged to communicate with teachers/principal about any concerns, suggestions or feedback.
In-House Occupational Therapist & Speech Therapist
Our pupils are assisted by a private Occupational Therapist & Speech Therapist, when professional intervention is required. With the parent's consent they observes pupils' development, screen them, refer them onto other specialists if necessary and give parents and teachers the necessary feedback to assist the holistic development of our pupils. This is an extra fee.
